My training is in Psychodynamic Approach and Object Relations, What does that all mean in non clinical terms? I am a firm believer that early experiences in childhood, whether positive or negative affect the formation of ourselves and mold our perception of the world around us.
I work both on an unconscious and conscious level, helping my clients understand deep ingrained patterns of feelings and behaviors as well as helping them reshape their view of themselves and the world around them. I see the client therapist relationship as a partnership. I will work with you to ensure you proceed through this journey safely and free of judgement. Therapy should be a place to explore your feelings of shame so you can move on from them.
My research interests are in eating disorders and childhood neglect. I have published several articles around eating disorders, affect dysregulation, weight and racialized biases, and atypical anorexia. I have created the curriculum and taught advanced seminars on both Trauma and Eating Disorders. I have provided training’s to non-profits across the NYC area specific to Trauma, Psychological Development and Borderline Personality Disorder and Compassion Fatigue
I have worked in the field for over many years with many different types of people and issues. My work has always brought me back to issues around childhood trauma. I have devoted my career to understanding the impacts of childhood trauma and how best to help people struggling.
I am a huge animal lover. I have a pet family of two dogs, Franklin and Bernie, three cats, Albert, Sanders and Emmeline. Oh and a fish named Chrissy. I volunteer at a local animal shelter. After losing my beloved dog Bellinger, I realized that there was very little support and resources for people grieving the loss of their beloved furry family member. I am a Certified Grief Counselor and one of the few Certified Counselors in NYC for Pet Loss Grief Counseling (PGRS-C, Pet Loss and Grief Recovery Specialist).
I care deeply about animals and those that love them. I specialize in individual and group work in Compassion Fatigue in the Animal Care Community. I also provide tailored workshops for vet hospitals and animal rescue organizations
